A Magical Matinee

Yesterday, Sara and I went on a ladies outing with about half the girls in our class. What would be the big attraction that would drag out half the ladies in our class, you ask? Oh, only the opening day of the movie, "Magic Mike" Ok, clearly you don't go to this movie for the amazing plot line of the story, but I'm always excited to spend some fun, girly time with our classmates. We met for cocktails and lunch before the movie where the bartender made us special "Magic Mike" drinks. I personally preferred the bartender's concoction called "Abs". Apparently Magic Mike's abs taste just like Apple Cider!?

For our day out, I wore my new fuchsia colored top from F21. Of course I was drawn to it because it is reminiscent of the bow tied blouses from the 70's that I love! I topped off my look with this amazing pleather coat that I thrifted and an old alligator embossed clutch that I bought when I worked at Bebe. Now, usually I don't prefer pleather...but it rains almost every day here lately!

Sara liked how the swirl on the back of my jeans matched the color of my blouse.

I'm doing my best "broke down baby doll" pose from America's Next Top Model.

Sara and I were also so impressed with our friend Corynn's outfit of the day. We loved her orange colored blazer accented with an orange and white leopard print scarf. AND check out Corynn's amazing braided bun. J'adore!

And here is the whole group after the movie. Notice the smiles?

All in all, you need to take this movie for what it's worth, but we had a great day out together. And I am now truly impressed with Channing Tatum's dancing abilities. Wowzers!

Have a great weekend, everyone! I hope you are all surviving the heat waves out there...we are still waiting for Summer here!! Ugh! A-

Thrifted: Pleather Coat...perfect for Seattle weather!

Senior Skip Day

Last Monday, we had our equivalent to "Senior Skip Day" except for the whole skipping class part. Me, Amanda and six of our classmates took the 2 hour drive to Leavenworth, WA after class. It's this eastern Washington town that has been turned into a little Bavarian village.

Here are some pictures from this lovely afternoon:

Amanda enjoying a beer in her awesome snakeskin (possibly thrifted?) blouse.

It was so nice to leave the raining Seattle weather for some sunshine if only for a few hours!

Also check out these crazy sunglasses I found in one of the shops. Why would anyone buy these?

And the one thing I had to do while in Leavenworth was visit the goats. On the hillside above the golf course, there are two goats just hanging out waiting for tourist to take their picture.

I also love how the bars from the fence makes the goat look like it's half zebra. Which started the debate of whether they would be called Zoats or Gebras? Personally, my vote is for Zoats.

I Heart Pink

I think there is a time in every girl's life when pink is their favorite color. Though I wouldn't say that it's my favorite color right now; I'm definitely on a pink kick at the moment.

My sister even took me shopping for my birthday last week and everything I got was pink (including this dress).  I love the lace and pink together, it's perfect for summer. I have a feeling I will be wearing this dress a lot.

I always get obsessed with things like eating yogurt, watching a certain TV show or wearing pink. I can't seem to get enough than I get sick of it and move on to my next new favorite and the cycle starts all over again. This kind of crazy behavior is how I was able to finish six seasons of the show Weeds in two days and why my sister won't let me buy sunglasses anymore.

Dress: F21, Scarf: Gifted, Belt: F21, Socks: Target, Boots: DSW, Ring: H&M, Sweater: ?

Also I can't believe that I'm wearing tall boots, knee high socks and a scarf in the middle of June. The sunshine is taking forever to get here.

Sunday Bloody Sunday

Wow, great song...but creepy post title!

So, we have a new Sunday night tradition around these parts. Can you guess what it is? It's True Blood viewing parties of course! Last Sunday, our friend Linnea held an awesome True Blood premier party. She had an amazing dinner straight out of Bon Temps complete with beans and rice, collard greens, hush puppies, and O Negative punch. For dessert, we sunk our fangs into chocolate dipped strawberries and bite marked cupcakes. Our hostess with the mostess also made sure that we were complete with bite marks on our own necks before the show started.

It was such a fun night and Linnea did a great job with the festivities! And, as our friend Corynn AKA Eric's #1 Fan says, "Oh, Ike Applebaum....."

casual Vampire viewing outfit with dark sunglasses, thrifted 70's blouse, and cross

our Hostess giving me my bite marks!

vegan chocolate to the left. milk chocolate to the right...oh, yeah!

Corynn getting her bites. Please note Corynn's shirt! ; )

Delicious O Negative Punch

O Negative Punch:

1 Bottle of Sparkling Wine
1 container Cranberry Concentrate
1/2 of 2 Liter of 7-Up

(don't drink too much or you may end up giving Vampires permission to enter your house!)

Do you have any guilty pleasures that you watch? Hope your Sunday doesn't suck! (that was a pretty lame one!)

Just giving myself some incentive to get my homework done early....

And That's a Wrap

Yesterday, my mom invited me to go to the Edmonds Arts Festival. Truth be told...I love art, but sometimes I find the festival a little on the boring side. Shhh....! But, it was a gorgeous day and what better way to spend the day but outside in a scenic, waterfront town and with one of my favorite gal pals (my mom!).

I recently thrifted this wrap dress. I don't know why I don't own more of them....they are so simple and elegant at the same time (Sara, this would be my alternative to the sweatsuit!). Really, could Diane Von Furstenberg be wrong? This dress gave me curves in areas that I usually don't have them...and I didn't mind one bit! Since we would be walking around in grass and sun, I kept my outfit simple with some aviators, pewter colored gladiators, and pewter colored bag (someone's matchy-matchy!). Oh, and also please excuse the glowing pale skin...I promise that I am not a Vampire (at least not yet!)....we just hardly ever see the sun.

We finished off the day by grabbing lunch and a latte. A great day full of giggles and fun was had!

There was a glass blowing demonstration (and not a Chihuly to be found <---sorry, he just drives me nuts. Not that I know the man or anything! ;)  )

Have a fantastic Saturday! I hope you have some giggles and fun in your day too.

Thrifted: Wrap Dress (Anne Klein)

THRIFTING TIP: This wrap dress is a smaller size than I usually wear. Be sure to try on everything at thrift stores. Sizing is not uniform, so you never know. You might miss out on a great item because you disregard the size. BUT...unfortunately it works in the other direction sometimes too! Long story short...TRY IT ON!

Sweatsuit Alternative

Some days are sweatshirt days. When I got out of class, it was pouring down rain and all I wanted to wear was comfy clothes; which in my world means a sweatshirt and flats.

Also when I don't feel like being fancy, I try to trick people into thinking I tried by wearing lots of jewelry or bright red lipstick. As you can see I went with jewelry and I did my hair, that always helps too.

I told my sister that I took outfit photos of this look and she said "Tim Gunn always says that everyone need an alternative to the sweatsuit". I told her I think this counts as that.

Pants: Gap, Shoes: F21, Sweatshirts: Russell Athletic, Shirt: Hanes Men, Necklace: F21, Bracelets: Thrifted (Value Village and Goodwill), Ring: Gifted

Have a great weekend! -S

It feels like Saturday

These photos are almost a week old.... almost. Last Saturday afternoon, Amanda and I went to a BBQ at a classmate's house. This also meant that I put off taking my outfit photos until 8:30 p.m. at which point I was losing my light.

Taking outfit photos at times can be a challenge. There are days when I just feel like I can't even remember how to stand in front of a camera. Then you add in the added pressure of your light source leaving. I imagine my photographer yelling "we gotta get this shot" just like they do on America's Next Top Model or something. It's all very confusing especially because I'm my own photographer.

And because it's June in Seattle, I had to wear jeans and a sweater so as to not freeze. Even at that I was still a little cold when I went outside. I wanted to keep the whole look simple with just a touch of pink and purple from the scarf.

Jeans: Old Navy, Shoes: Ross, Top: H&M, Sweater: Nordstrom Rack, Scarf: Thrifted, Bag: Thrifted, Ring: Gift, Necklace: Gift, Bracelets: H&M

My new favorite thing for summer is head scarf. I have so many scarfs and it's such an easy way to add a pop of color to an outfit!
